Parallelogram is an online publication initiated by The Polygon Gallery, which is situated adjacent to the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) village of Eslhá7an. Operating within the unceded territories of the sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səl̓ílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, and the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Band comes with a responsibility and a commitment to the development of an indigenising and inclusive institution.
Situating ourselves requires a recognition, an honouring, and a willingness to learn from the history of this land and people. Before entering Parallelogram, visitors are similarly invited to reflect on their own relationships to the lands they inhabit.
As a prelude for this publication, we offer the poem “Existing as a Settler On Unceded Land: A Guide” by Deirdre Lee. Read it here.
